Wartburg Speedway Results 05-02-2008

With skies threatening, it was a race against Mother Nature to get this past Friday night's racing program in. The racing managed to get completed for another night of fender-bending, paint-swapping close quarters action in the bullring known as "The 'Burg". In Super Late Model, the entry list was small with only four cars but Anthony White again set fast time with a 13.327 time. The Sportsman class' fast qualifier was Mark Leach with a 13.282 time, beating out "The Wizard Of Roz" Mark Rosner by two-thousandths of a second. In Street Stock, the fast qualifier was Reagan Williams with a 15.525 time.

The Mini Stock class was filled with action as usual with the #3-6 of Lance Frost winning the first heat with the #24 of Jim Frost in second and in the second heat, it was the #8 of Brian Frost with the win and the #51 of JR Goode in second. In the feature, Brian Frost appeared to have things in hand, holding off the challenge of Rocky McNabb, only for mechanical problems to set in halfway through the feature, giving the #3-6 of Lance Frost the lead. On the restart, Frost was passed by the #D2 of Darren Goins and Goins went back-to-back at "The 'Burg" with a thrilling charge from the back of the pack to the front. Goode had a strong second place finish, Lance Frost came home third, Jim Frost came home fourth and the #01 of Rocky McNabb came home fifth. Brian Frost and Ben Bell brought up the rear.

In the Super Late Model feature, the #2x of Anthony White led flag-to-flag for another win at Wartburg Speedway with the #21 of Billy Ogle Jr. second, the #44 of Chris Marcum third, and the #23 of Tim Damron bringing up the rear.

The Sportsman class put on an exciting show with the #66 of Mark Leach and the #17 of Mark Rosner nose-to-tail for most of the race with Leach going back to back at Wartburg Speedway with Rosner having to settle for second, the #7 of Darrick York third, the #91 of Dale nance fourth, and the #0 of Ross White fifth. Gary Lively finished sixth with Jeff Adkisson seventh, Travis Armes eighth, Jason Manley ninth, and Danny Adkins rounding out the top ten. Rounding out the field were Brian Hooks and Chris Seeber with Chuck Freels.

In the Street feature, it was Reagan Williams going wire-to-wire for three in a row with the #44 of Nick Nelson a very close second, the #17 of Joe Seiber third, the #40 of Troy Brown fourth, and the #M14 of Wayne Lewis fifth. Dustin Wilson finished sixth with Doug York and Jonathan Sims rounding out the field.

And last, but most certainly not least, the Front Wheel Drive class had the #26 of Kenny May win the first heat with the # 4 of Robert Lewis second. In the second heat, it was the #20 of Spunky Brown with the win with the #5x of Joe Freels in second. In the feature, it was Kenny May going the distance for the win with the #17 of Andrew Green in second as Brown had to settle for third with Freels in fourth and Lewis in fifth. Sixth was Justin Scott with Blake Hall and Michelle Patterson bringing up the rear. Chris Morrison did not start the feature.

Coming up next week is the $3,000 to win Southern Regional Racing Series event at Wartburg Speedway for the Super Late Models. Will Anthony White go home $3,000 richer or will someone beat "The Dirty White Boy" in his backyard? Come out next week and find out. Plus the other support classes will be in action for some thrill-a-minute action at "The Greatest Show On Dirt". See you at the races, fans!
